Had my little one June 20th. Haven't been to the Dr yet since giving birth but go on Wednesday. Wanting to get the mirena iud again but not sure if it's too late to get it because I don't know if my cervix is still open? Last time I got the mirena iud my cervix wasn't opened since I didn't recently have a baby and it was excruciating because my cervix had to be opened up to insert iud. Really trying to avoid that again! But hoping it'll still be opened since I just gave birth a month ago.

My OB told me that she likes to place the IUD at 8 weeks post partum because the cervix is usually still open a little but everything is healed up enough by then. So you should be fine!

You should try to go when you have your period if possible because your cervix will open slightly. I had major complications with mirena which is why I plan on avoiding it this time.

Is that a good birth control? Did you have any complications besides when you got it put in? I was considering a new birth control but I was concern with it getting lost or something

I've never had issues with it and I love it. You can keep it in up to 5 years and whenever you want it out, you just go to the Dr and get it removed at anytime. I've only had pain getting it inserted once but that was because my cervix wasn't opened. It's best to get it right after having a baby or it'll be painful because the Dr has to open up your cervix to insert the IUD. I was on it for 7 years and never had a period.

I got the mirena after both of my births and like it. It’s a good choice for me.
