Ok so I'm getting terrible answers as to when to turn my baby from rear facing to forward facing. Its saying you can keep a baby rear facing to 50 pounds and my 8 year old step son is 50 pounds. I cant adjust my babies straps any larger and his legs stick far out from car seat to where he practically isnt fitting in it anymore. Suggestions? Where hlshould I get this information?

@saintsmama, they are usually 35 pounds, 32 inches with less then 1 inch from the top of the head to the top of the shell. You will want to by a combination seat that will let you rear face till at least 4.

Have you switched from an infant car seat to a convertible? The convertible car seats can rear face past 2 and should be rear until then.

You may want to google the model of your car seat and check out the straps from behind. There really ought to be enough strap length to adjust

I've adjusted the straps as far as they can go.

Trade in his infant seat at Target for a 20% off coupon towards a new seat.

Buy a convertible carseat and rear face until at least two. Unless you need one now, just go and buy a new one. It is safest to rear face as long as possible. I rear faced till almost 5.

So I've never heard of rear facing till 3 1/2+ years but I do know if he's in an infant car seat you should buy a convertible one that can grow with him. I love my girls seats, my girls are about the same size but 17 months apart. And they have two different seats and I love them both and recommend them. I'll post A pic with the name in a few minutes. My 3 year old is forward facing and has been since about 2 1/2 years old. My youngest will probably forward face when she's 2-2 1/2 years old just because she's really big for her age, she's in the 100 percentile on height. So I feel she may get too big and be uncomfortable rear facing. However I do recommend rear facing till at least 2 years old. But anyways Definitely buy him a new car seat that can grow with him. They are easier to load and unload kids out of in my opinion. And the kids can see so much more sitting in those kind which my girls loved and as a result they fussed and cried less.
