How do you know when or if something that was said as a "joke" really isn't being said as a "joke" anymore..or am I just too sensitive

Best dad jokes I don't know if this qualifies but it's that kind of joke that makes you go omg. Dh said "I wanna have a treesome" I looked at him funny and he said "it's sex in a tree" lol. He told me to post it on here ?
