Anyone have a baby with an umbilical hernia? Can you share your experience? I'm worried Violet has one. Her innie became an outie in a little over a week and it pops out more when she cries or stretches. It doesn't seem to bother her at all but ive noticed she's had a harder time passing gas even with bicycle kicks. It's not popped out super far, but enough that you definitely notice. And it's uneven with the part popping out being the lower part of her belly button. I'd take a pic but she's just fallen asleep. I'm definitely calling her doctor and have it looked at on Monday.

My 4 year old does. It only bothers him if he don't poop for a few days.

Haddie has one starting. It's very small. The pedi said they're totally normal and can actually get pretty large. As long as it stays squishy and soft so that you can poke it and push it back in it's not a problem. If it becomes hard and can't be pushed down at all it becomes an emergency. They're common though and should resolve by 2-3 years old when the muscles grow over.

@insecureemu Oh totally. I'm still really nervous but my pedi was very reassuring. I would call and take her in just to make yourself feel better and so the pedi can keep track of any changes happening with it. As far as I know though there's nothing you can really do but just keep an eye on it. We're in this together. Haddie had issues with her cord closing properly and as soon as it did this little bitsy hernia popped up. ☹

Violet had issues too. Hers fell off and then had bleeding issues for about two weeks before if finally healed. And now it's popped out all of the sudden.

I wonder if it has anything to do with that. She assured me it didn't but you never know!

My son has one, he's 4 now, but my Dr. Said his doesn't seem to be causing any problems

I have heard someone say, if you put a silver dollar on the belly button and tape it on, it could help it go down!

My three youngest have had one. Older two had from birth pretty large, my 5 year olds was gone by 3, 7 year old still kind of has it but drs aren’t concerned. My youngest like yours didn’t have it at birth it happened around 1-2 weeks old but went away by 3 months.

My son has one and it doesn't seem to bother him. The pediatrician said to push it in whenever I notice it poking out. My mom said back in the day they put a quarter over the belly button and taped it to keep it in
