Idk, when my kids throwing a tantrum it usually means "I'm pissed off and I'm going to scream so everyone knows. If you ask me what's wrong or even look in my direction I will scream louder."
Or
"I didn't listen when you told me to you and the dog bit me but I can't tell you or I'll get in trouble."
I figure I’m lucky (so far). My daughter isn’t really a tantrum thrower.
She’ll cry when it’s time to leave something she’s doesn’t (park, swimming, ect). But, if I tell her we won’t come back if she keeps crying then that stops the tears.
This past weekend we took the kids swimming, every hr they take a pool break. My spicy, very strong willed little lady decided she was going to take off her float and my one rule was you can't go in the water without it. Well she decided she wasn't going to put it back on and the tantrum started. 🤦 That was fun!
Shoot my daughter throws tantrums if I give her water after she asked for it or me telling her no when she touches the stove or telling her no she can’t run in the street the it’s the end of the world falling on the ground kicking her legs screaming and don’t let her not get a toy in the store then the tantrum really begins
I think its definitely an "I'm pissed I did not get my way" or "I didn't want to listen to you, did what I wanted, and got a consequence" ... At least for my heathens lol

Or simply: I didn’t get my way or you meant what you said when you told me not to do something and I did it and ended up with consequences.
