I don’t understand why YOU don’t know if it was a lie. If it was not the truth, it was a lie. I was asking if maybe they didn’t tell you everything, but maybe some of it, and that’s why you couldn’t decide if it was a lie. 🤔

Clarification is needed.
If they just didn't say anything or didn't go into full details I wouldn't consider it a lie.
If they did answer it but didn't say anything truthful I'd consider it a lie.
In all actuality people don't have to tell you anything.
