Hey mommas i got a question.
I have 3 older girls other than the twins. Well the girls dad barely came back in their lives in june hasnt bought them anything whatsoever.
Well when he contacted me in june he told me he needed me to sign some papers for childs support since hes putting himself on. Well he brings me the papers i still havent signed or put the girls info. Fast forward to today. He comes over kind of pissed off saying child support sent him a letter stating he owes ME $3,297 in childs support mind you we still havent turned in the papers. And that supposedly they're taking it this week on Wednesday. Me on my end havent recieved ANYTHING in the mail stating i will be recieving some no card or anything. Let me also put in our oldest is going to kinder next month and he was going to help buy her and the 2 others shoes this week and no this so happens to happen the exact week. I feel maybe its true but then another part of me wants to think hes just trying to get out of buying things for them.
Has anyone been through something like this? And actually recieved the childs support? If so was it all or half to you and the rest to the state?
And what he owes the state and what he owes you should be separate in the arrears calculation. He would owe the state if he requested a dna test or if you received cash assistance.
Okay back in june he gave me a packet to fill out to file for it he needed my info but i never filled it out or returned it back to him since he wanted it directly back to him instead of me turning it in. So im guessing technically he hasnt filed only "child support" hes doing is paying the mediciad each month. So im not understanding whats actually going on. If what hes saying is true about the letter he got or if hes lying to get out of getting her things for school
@3plus2is5, I would contact the child support enforcement office. They can tell you if there is a case open and the actions on it.
If he filed for child support you should have received paper work from either the child support office or the court. Which ever he filed with. Once you receive the paper work and turn it in they would also send you a notice of hearing. they base child support on both of your incomes, if there is a custody order and they determine the percentage at which each parent is held responsible. A child support amount isn’t set right away because he filed. There is back support but that is calculated from the day the petition for child support is filed until the order is set. Generally when someone is in arrears, they are only allowed to collect a percentage of that amount each month. They don’t take the entire amount. My kids dad was in arrears and I’ve either gotten little by little extra each month until it was caught up or they took his tax return and gave it to me.
Or the juvenile and domestic courts. Which ever he filed with will have the info.
