I have a personal question to anyone that can help. My daughters father and I are not married but he is on the birth certificate. Does he get even more rights as a father if we are married compared to not being? We live together and have been for 3 years. Also, is it true that once you are married all my debt becomes his too and all of his becomes mine? Thanks for any help I would really appreciate it.
My husband and i just recently got married in March, after being together since 2011. We had both our boys in the state of VA and although we weren’t officially married and never went to court for full custody he had all parental rights that i had.
As for debt and such, i believe once you’re married it does become the others.

It's kinda like KY.
The Voluntariy acknowledgement of paternity (required to get on Birth certificate) just makes it to where dad is financially responsible. It doesn't actually give them rights.
If you got married this wouldn't change. Its only different if he was born after you were married
Yes he does. Marriage he gets every single right you do. Unwed mothers and fathers no. Ut being on the birth certificate helps. If he werent he'd have no rights unless paternity is established by a jugde
