@llcoolkay yeah, my OB prescribes mine. I didn't want my children getting the HSV-1 virus when they were newborns, it can be deadly for babies so I wasn't taking any chances.

I take valtrex. they are prescribed though & like $80-$90. they help them go away faster and prevent them if taken daily. I only take them when I feel one about to come. abreva also helps them go away faster

I’m going to get some abreva today. Would I just tell my doctor that I get cold sores and ask about the valtrex?

Carmex or abreva are the only things that work for my husband. That’s all I know.
