My career has been on my mind alot lately. I'd really like to finish what I started. I'm an LPN and I wanna do the bridge for my RN but looking at the prices for the RN isn't encouraging. I managed to pay for my LPN and left school without a loan. I just feel like I should be focusing on buying a house and paying a mortgage instead of school loan because my kids will always have their own home but I still don't wanna be stuck as a LPN and I don't wanna have a mortgage and a school loan to pay. Some ppl say you have forever to pay a loan I just don't like knowing I'm in debt but I have absolutely no problem paying a mortgage because the house will be for my kids. Idk ...

I say go back to school. With the money you'll be making as an RN, you'll be able to pay mortgage/school loan with no problem. Also, I encourage you to apply for scholarships and any other financial assistance that's being offered. You never know... good luck to you hun.

@lucky18 you can get grants based on your academic standings. Free money!!

I'm going back to school in September. I got about 3k in grants from grades back 15 years ago!! No lie, the rest im using loans. I researched programs and schools available to me and what best fit my vision and pockets. Guarantee you the RN will pay off. Look in your local area to see what RNs are getting paid. This will give you a baseline of your possible salary increase. From there you can look at your budget with estimated mortgage and loan payments.

Your nursing degree will pay off in the end. And I'm not sure what the salary is for nurses versus lpn but if your salary doubles and you manage your spending with the higher salary you be able to pay off the student loans & mortgage simultaneously

How much is the bridge program? Do they offer scholarships? Your income potential as an RN is far higher than an LPN, and student loans really aren’t all that bad. The minimum payment on mine was $167/month after graduating with my bachelors. Small price to pay for a career with a larger salary and more opportunity for advancement.

Different schools different prices. The one school I was really interested in is 30k a year and they do offer scholarships but that's luck and chance. I've heard of schools that offer the program for 18k a year which is not bad but I just feel like if I add 2k to that, that's a down payment for a house. I know with an RN license it's a larger salary but I can't help but feel like the years I'll be in school I could've bought a house already and paying the mortgage @ek_

we actually plan to buy the house next year which is why I'm thinking is it really worth it. Use the money to go back to school or buy a house🤷‍♀️

School fees

Having an intense debate on Facebook about school fees for public school. I'm in the "stop whining about school fees and stop having kids if you can't afford them" camp and there is the other camp of "free school is a constitutional right! It's bull s*** we have to pay anything at all".

Looks like I'll have to move out 😔

My ex said to me that it is his house as he has been paying the mortgage most months - but the house is in my name.

Seriously don't know what to do ☹️

I just wanna know if anything went wrong (touch wood it doesn’t) do I have any rights to half the house? He keeps on oh we own a house now ect but I’m like no you do I don’t :(

babybump_user I think if he bought it before you were married he could take all. After marriage is
