So the puppy we got won’t stop biting...she comes out of now where and bites my kids..she left marks on my son twice! I watch them around her, I keep her away from them, but some how she will either climb out or my ornery 3 year old lets her out and she will bite one or the other :( so we decided to give her back to the people we got her (it’s a rescue place) and they said they will try to find a better fit for our family and a dog who is already trained with kids...we don’t understand why she bites them! She’s an amazing dog otherwise but just hates kids and she’s only 13 weeks! Ugh! I feel like failure but I need to do what’s best for my kids :(

You have to put the time in to train the puppy. Maybe put the dog search on hold until you have the time to train, and your kids are older?

I’m a stay at home mom and we even have a trainer who come 3x a week...the puppy isn’t being a puppy she is aggressive towards the kids and even the trainer suggested that we not keep her around the kids

@paigerue2013, that’s great you have a trainer come too, but you have to put the work in to train also. It goes both ways, you have to watch how your kids act towards the puppy. Puppies have lots of energy and they need at least a walk a day to make them tired.

Try finding an older dog. Maybe a lazy old boy would work better with the kids. Puppies nip and test boundaries as much as they can, especially in the beginning. That doesn't mean that they hate kids. Do what is best for your family. You should see if the rescue place will let you do a weekend test if you end up finding another just so you aren't bringing dogs in and out.

We have a trainer who is part of the rescue who we got her from...she said she is aggressive and just doesn’t like
Kids...not a learning thing with her just how she feels towards young ones :( but that’s what we plan on doing! Test trials!
