So my husband brought up the topic on schooling for our kids within the next few years & it has brought tear to my eyes because I’m SCARED. The way the world is... scares me because now I have to worry about school shootings, bullying, & teachers who are pedophiles. School should be one of the safest places for your child smh. Its so scary to think my daughter will be starting kindergarten in 2 yrs.

Girl it’s everywhere sadly, there was just a school threat at a local elementary school in my county a few months back! I’m seriously thinking about home schooling but at the same time I want my children to enjoy a real school atmosphere you know.

Our school recently had a gun/Bomb threat, Then a student stabbed another in the temple with a pencil. Shits crazy I hate that i have to send my kids to school.

I feel ya. Faye starts pre-K in September. I try so hard not to helicopter but it’s difficult. If it makes you feel a little tiny bit better - it did for me at least - when I toured her school the woman told me that schools are doing training for active shooters. That before the school year even begins the teachers and staff have multiple training days and then a few more times throughout the school year. I asked her if it was just this particular school and she said it’s country wide. If you have options for schools, maybe call around and see if any have had training.
Private schools are also much better equipped. But, so expensive.
No matter what though, I get it. It’s so nerve wracking.

We are putting Vi in private preschool and then homeschooling with classes (dance, yoga, gymnastics, art etc) everyday

I get it. It is so nerve wracking. I absolutely love the schools in our district, especially our elementary school, but that worry is still there. The elementary school is right up the road so whenever I hear sirens going that way, it makes me worry. I feel a lot better that our schools have had a security overhaul in the last few years and they are definitely safer than they were.

We do public online school and it has been wonderful. We didn't choose it for security reasons, but it is a nice perk!

Honestly I’m terrified of the same exact thing. My daughter starts kindergarten in the fall. She will be doing public school until she’s done with 5th grade. Then we will do homeschooling.
