What would you do if someone was spreading rumors about you to ruin your reputation at work?
I found out by HR and they don’t know what to do.
I don’t want to leave my job either, I also work with my father.
I feel absolutely helpless.
It’s affecting how others view me now.

thanks. Me neither. I think it could be possible that person or people could have more credibility than I do. So HR doesn’t know who to believe. 😞

@spookylyn, I unfortunately went up to her the other day with the intentions of saying sorry about all that has happened but she brushed me off and is now short with me.
She believes the rumors to be true no matter how kind I am or try to move past it. She wants nothing to do with me.
That means that my job is in short supply. The last two weeks I’ve been scrapping to find work to do.
It’s like having half the place against you and the other half holding on to your loyal attitude.
I feel like I have to watch my back and make sure I cross all the T’s and dot all my I’s or if I slip up, who knows what they’ll say about me.
I feel so powerless to defend myself against these people.
It’s more than one and that’s why HR can’t sit them down and ask what they want from this. It’s more than two people saying these things.

@spookylyn, HR isn’t allowed to tell me who it is. Which I think is beyond not okay. How am I to not feel paranoid?
I’m not allowed in any staff meetings so I could never address it myself.
They did have a staff meeting a day after the rumors surfaced and it was brought up.
The CEO and owner both rolled their eyes wishing this drama would just end and not even talk about it. My personal supervisor vogued for me saying I’m super loyal, always happy and willing to work hard, and do an amazing job. That’s as far as they went before it was just set to the side as unimportant.
That’s why I resorted to asking you guys.
Time has passed now that bringing it up to anyone would make their eyes roll, the tension here is real.
I just wish there was an opportunity for me to explain how I got here, my position and that my loyalty is everything, I would never hurt anyone in a place I dedicate my heart to.
It is so juvenile!
That’s why I’m the bigger person for just moving on.
It’s so hard though now.
