How many new moms on here put headbands on their very first baby?

I did.

I just made sure it wasn't too tight and not to use it when I'm sleeping.

We'll be using them but like unicornprincessx3 said I would absolutely always take off when sleeping or when she isn't being supervised. They can slip down and suffocate them very easily.
