San Francisco area.
All moms living in that area how much $$ should a family of 4 needs to live a good life? Is life way to expensive there? Which nearby town is cheaper?
Thank you so much for the response. How do people live there? It is so expensive
@mrsmarie, we worked 2-3 jobs each, tech couples make that money easy and many people live with 2-3 generations in the same house
@fairykarmamomma oh no! That's crazy. I was looking at the house prices and it's nuts!!! My husband is an engineer with a master and I'm too. But I'm not working right now.
You’re gonna have to give an arm, leg and foot. Lol I love the Bay Area tho! Just too expensive in all aspects. Depending on how far or close you wanna be to SF will change things.
@mrsmarie, Walnut Creek it really nice and safe. It’s expensive. Have you looked in concord?
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...

I was born in SF,grew up in Concord and Oakland/Berkeley/Hayward made me an adult. And I have now left....That area is great for raising kids. Walnut Creek is more expensive but excellent schools along the 680 corridor.
I left because our family of three with a six figure salary under $150k couldn’t afford to own a home in an area we liked and felt our child would be safe in. In order to do so, we would’ve had to put about $400k down on a home or pay $3000-$3500 a month rent, probably more for a mortgage!
My honest opinion, if you want to still have a life, take vacations and actually save money I’d say if you’re gonna be out in like Vallejo or Antioch, you need $160k in yearly salary and closer to SF/Oakland/Berkeley think $180-$200k.
As much as I love my home, I’m much happier and at peace financially in the Sacramento area. I live for half the price and an scoping out multiple properties to buy vs putting all of my eggs into one basket. Gentrification has hurt my feelings for the city of Oakland. It’s changed...it’s sad that I miss it
