Breastfeeding moms..

When my son is eating, after about 2 minutes in he starts arching his back, crying, swinging his arms, and moving like something is hurting him. What could this be ? I have thought maybe it’s reflux or burps, or even food sensitivity. I stop to burp him when he does it and it works for a minute or two and then he’s doing it again. I need help please so I will know what to do for my little one to make feeding easier on both of us and bring him less discomfort while feeding.

He can be Colic. Maybe watch what U eat because certain foods aren’t good while breast feeding. My son had the same problem but he was colic and he has reflux.

I definitely think he has some reflux. What did you do with your son ? I wish I knew exactly what I should cut out. I don’t know what it could be.

@luv_2b_amomma, he grew out of it . He’s 9 months now and he doesn’t get the reflux as much . It was bad to the point that he was throwing up after every feeding .now it just bothers him when he burps

Mine did the same thing and it was due to overactive letdown. You can look it up and tips. You may be over producing and it's too much for him

I think that is the case. I know when he is drinking I can hear it as it goes down and he does act as if it’s a lot. What did you do with your oversupply?

@luv_2b_amomma if you don't already have a haaka or similar milk catcher, get one. I catch on the opposite breast everytime and freeze the supply for now. I also have noticed a difference in feeding her in a reclined position. I'll delatch when I feel the burn and express into a burp cloth for a moment

@luv_2b_amomma I also keep gas drops on hand for if she inhales too much air, really helps!

Think I have heard this before and it’s because they are uncomfortable and are most likely because your flow is too much or too little.

You should look this up on YouTube.

Yes I do have a heavy flow of milk. I think that definitely is playing a role in what’s upsetting his tummy while feeding.

He could have a diary sensitivity. Try cutting dairy out of your diet

That could be it. I normally don’t eat dairy but it was my husbands birthday Friday and I did eat cake and ice cream.

Yes he is latched properly. Yes I do notice a bit of milk that comes up after he pulls away from the nipple and that he may even spit up. He does have thrush on his tongue. What does that mean ? What should I do ?

@luv_2b_amomma, my son had thrush and did the same thing. It def affects nursing. He needs to see a dr for medication for his thrush. If you don’t go soon you’ll get it too and it’ll be so hard to get rid of. Sanitize all of his nipples, binkys and anything going in his mouth. Boil them if you have too. As for your nipples keep them clean and dry as possible. I got it on my nipples and it felt like knives stabbing me every time I fed him.

@morganmommy79, it’s a yeast infection. It can be painful for both. If that’s what it is. I’d check with a dr if his tongue or mouth is patchy white
