Okay guys, Noah had a little accident at school today. To make a very very long story short he was smacked in the mouth by a little skateboard because a friend sat on it and it flipped up. It was a complete accident. His teacher checked him out and all of a sudden started bleeding BAD and his top lip swelled. His teacher that was with him had to yell for help From his other teacher(my old boss). She ran out and the teacher that saw it took him inside tried to get it to stop bleeding and she was able to. She checked his mouth and his teeth and she said at the moment everything was fine. His lip is huge but that’s okay, however Noah asked for a chocolate chip cookie when we got home and he went to take a bite and he barely put any pressure on it and he started crying, he did it again and started crying so I broke a small piece off and put it in the side of his mouth and he was fine. I checked his mouth and his top tooth is chipped and I thought it seemed a little loose but honestly I can’t tell. Do I take him to the emergency room or wait until Monday and call his dentist?

No bleeding at all and the only bump is his super swollen lip but it doesn’t have a funny color or anything just looks like he has a big lip.

@bubbys.mommy, aw he sounds ok but always go w your gut. My littlest one has has two mouth injuries the last month and I think they end up bleeding a LOT and seem worse than they are. Nice thing is they heal up quickly. You can give him a popsicle to help reduce his lip swelling

@phoebesmommy, I tried to give him a otter pop and he wouldn’t eat it cause he bites them lol 😭 I may see if I can get him a different kind of popsicle though cause I know it would help him feel better.

My daughter fell and chipped her tooth on cement and the dentist told me to watch for the list above. Also any discoloration of the tooth. It is normal for the tooth to become grayish bc of blood inside the tooth but a bump on the gums is an infection (fistula). I’d call your dentist or pediatrician before making a trip to the ER.
You can give him some ibuprofen

Yeah I saw my dad pull up right after I posted this so I told him and he said he should be fine but watch it in case an infection tries to happen. He looked at his lip, gums and tooth as well and he said everything looked fine, just to give him ibuprofen cause he will be sore and I can already tell he is 😭. I’ll hold off the on emergency room unless something funky happens, cause he seems fine and I’m not really worried I just wasn’t sure and got a tad uneasy when I realized he couldn’t bite down hard but I guess that comes with the pain.
