Girl it’s crazy. Last year one of the schools around here was playing a school from the reservation for homecoming. They had this old beat up car with nazi sign on it, with “Go back to the Rez” they had bats beating the car and mocking our Native tongue “Lilililili” and war hopping. Someone videotaped it and it leaked to the media. They do all this shit but when it’s time for them to come to the Rez to play they get all this extra security because we are “savages”. It’s so fucking disgusting. We were born and raised with love and respect.

Another time a reservation school took the kids 1-5th who made honor roll to a hockey game up here. This group of older (21+) men, poured fucking beer in these kids heads “lililili” like it’s a fucking joke. They white men got a slap on the wrist and security escorted them out AFTER the game! There was a group of Native men who was waiting for them, but security was with the white men. Those poor kids had to leave early. It’s such a sad disgusting thing.

Omg that is sooo awful! How can people have such hate in their hearts? Such ignorance. I had never lived anywhere with a big Native population until we moved to Alaska. The amount of people who are openly and unapologetically racist towards Natives is jaw dropping. I’d never seen anything like it in my life. People will sometimes say racist stuff about Natives to me (I swear my blonde hair & blue eyes makes people comfortable saying that shit to me). I always pause for a real long time after they’re done just looking at them until they’re visibly uncomfortable. Then I say “My husband is Native.” That shuts them up.
