I keep catching my son with his thumb in his mouth. 😣 I will nottttt allow a thumb sucker..as cute as it is.
You better believe I pop that paci back in soo fast!😅
That’s what I recently read! About it being hereditary...
My daughter never even tried. Paci all the way. But this little boy? Man oh man..
and his dad did also. My sweet mil keeps being like, “Stop him! Steven sucked his thumb until he was nearly five! I almost had to cut his finger off!” 😂😂.
It’s funny also because my daughter is my twin, and my son is his.
Oh I don’t mind that part - it’s the gross smelly part about it all that I don’t like. 😆 That on top of how I hear it’s SO hard to beak the habit.
@phoebesmommy, a little girl I used to babysit sucked her thumb. She was only 1-2 when I baby sat her, but omgggg. Its been 10 years since and I still gag when I think of that smell.
@jennatess, my girls are attached to their blankies since birth.. and lemmetellyou.. no matter how hot I wash them or how much soap I use.. vinegar even- that smell is embedded 😖
My son sucks his thumb. He’s refused a pacifier his entire life, we tried all the different kinds for several months and he just didn’t want it. He nurses to sleep unless he’s with his sitter then he sucks his thumb. There’s really nothing I can do to stop him. My daughter sucked 2 fingers until she was 3 and we had to wean her because it was affecting her teeth.
@scidg3, well first we tried putting bandaids on her fingers and that worked during the day but then she still sucked on them at night out of habit. Then she figured out how to take the bandaids off. So my sitter told us about this plastic finger guard they sell it on Amazon and it goes over 2 fingers and keeps them from sucking. We did that at night for maybe 3-4 weeks and then she was totally weaned. It was hard but I’m glad I did it.
@2sweetie One of my girls sucks 3 fingers 🤣 she knows how to take Band-Aids off. She has eczema and her fingers get bad done days so I've put Band-Aids and she takes them off... I'm hoping she will wean this year but I'll have to keep that in mind. Did she have a hard time with that plastic thing? Cry wise
@scidg3, yes she threw a huge hysterical tantrum the first night 😩 After that it got a little better and she understood what we were trying to do. After a few weeks if I caught her with her fingers in her mouth I’d just threaten to put the finger guard on and she stopped.
I'm having a time! Mine keeps popping it out and shoving his fingers in his mouth 😰
Hmm just fed my baby 4oz and he kept crying and sucking in his thumb after. So I fixed him two more ounces. Guess he is ready to start getting more 🤷🏻♀️
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Hi i
So my son decided he wants to suck his thumb! Uhhhh no baby we not having that. I put socks on his hands and looking at me with his angry face 😂
@2sweetie, BOTH my girls and the one on the way: all thumb suckers. My second couldn’t get her thumb for a while but refused a binky. For the most part they listen to me when I tell them no thumb sucking- only at bedtime. I cannot get them to stop. It’s hereditary too bc my DH and my MIL both thumb suckers 😖
