The trouble with an anterior placenta...

I realised I hadn't felt as much as usual from baby a little while ago, so after jiggling my bump and getting a small kick I thought ok, I'll have some lunch and if she doesn't wake up I'll call the hospital.

Then I saw my bump distort and jiggle with the force of her kick... Right in the placenta where I couldn't feel it!

The little monkey's sitting behind the placenta at the moment, and leaving my ribs alone for once.

She once kicked the midwife's hand while I was being measured, hard enough that the midwife commented on the force of the kick. Again, right in the placenta and I hadn't felt it at all!

I had an anterior placenta with lil man. Felt movements from 16/17wks but became more noticeable kicks literally the day before I was 20wks lol. I was sent in to be monitored one day after mentioning to the midwife he was having a quiet morning (was part of his pattern but I’d always get in touch with the midwife if it was something that was not normal for him) Once I was hooked up to the machine he passed for his gestation age within the first 12mins and a total pass within the first round. Yet the whole 20/30mins of being monitored I only felt 1 kick! But he had been kicking away the whole time.

Once I’d feel him turn around I’d feel his kicks more, as he got bigger there was no missing them! I’d say 90% of his movements I’d feel on my left side, we used to joke that my side was his door bell as as soon as anyone tapped there he’d start kicking away there 😂

Ah I miss all that ❤️ xx

I had anterior placenta, I remember a full day of no movements, went to hospital on monitor with still no movements, after a couple of hours I had one big kick, on the scan the next day he was kicking but I wasn't feeling anything x

I've been told I have an anterior placenta but there's definitely no lack of movement! My partner even got to feel at 18 weeks! I was told the same with my daughter at my 12 week scan but then at my 20 week scan was told it's in the normal place 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mine's right in the middle and high, between my ribs and belly button. I tend to feel a lot of movements in my sides, ribs and pelvis.

Usually if I'm resting I get endless visible movements now, and she'll kick anyone who presses their hands against my bump. Poor Bethany once sat on my lap for a bedtime story and got kicked in the back, another time she got kicked in the face when she cuddled up to me on the sofa!

I could just about feel her below the placenta at 18 weeks too, the sonographer doing my 20 week scan also felt her. Hubby felt her properly a few weeks later.

I had an anterior placenta with Bethany as well, hers was level with my belly button and just slightly to the right so I'd feel movements everywhere else and just watch an elbow poke out & move across the placenta.

@jonessophia361 at this stage, if I did call in with reduced movements they'd probably just get her out!
