Any mamas have a late talker? My son is so physically inclined it isnt even funny. Hes been walking since about 10m, is running, jumping, climbing, can open/shut doors, eats with a fork and spoon, just all kinds of things i wouldnt expect yet. However, hes not a big talker. He babbles and laughs constantly, and will say some things like "oh no," "bye bye," "no no no," but he wont say much else. I know he understands words because if I say like "let's go potty" he knows that were going to the bathroom, or if i ask if he wants down while holding him, he'll release his grip and slide down. He just doesnt want to talk i guess
At his age only saying a few words is normal. My daughter was very advanced physically and wouldn't count or do anything learning wise until she was 3-4 and now she has the highest IQ in her grade.
My daughter is 4 and is a bit behind on talking. Partly because I'm the only one who makes her say whole sentences and everyone else will respond to her pointing instead of making her ask
All kids talk at their own pace. Mostly what I would do is when giving her something or if she wanted something I'd repeat what it was till she said it back then give it to her. Ever single time. I had a friend whose daughter was around the same age as mine and another friend the child the same age. My daughter definitely talked a lot more than they did but the one little girl would never say a word. Her parents were worried but I told them that it seemed like she like to just sit back and observe. One day she took off talking they had no idea she could talk the way she did until she decided she was ready
@shellee94 thank you, he was such an amazing little guy. My sister was a young mom (had her first just after turning 15) had number 2 at 17. That's why I raised them. She needed my help. Not to sound cliche but all kids are different and one day he's going to just take off with talking and it will never stop!!! Have you thought about using sign language for the time being? I used it with my dd and we still use it till this day.
@momsrmagical thats almost the same situation as with my sister, except she was a little older and only had the one. My mom had custody of her before she died, and now my dad does, but i still help out. Ive thought about signing, but i honestly dont know if i can be consistent enough for it to stick. Plus, SO has a memory worse than Dory's so he'd forget lol
@shellee94 awe, I'm so sorry for your loss as well. My nephew gave the world something very special. If it wasn't for him and what he had it probably never would have been known. He had an extremely rare disease that when it was discovered they only knew of one other child that had the same thing. Now 17 years later there are about 50 cases of children teens and adults that can be treated. There's no cure but there are things that can help. Signing is difficult but it can definitely be helpful I taught myself years ago when I worked in retail because we had four regular customers that were deaf and I thought it would be helpful. After a while I stopped using it but then I had my daughter and picked it back up. But like I said. He will get there and I wouldn't worry. It's normal.
He's still young! That all sounds totally normal. You can always try introducing sign language with him. That may encourage him to start communicating more. I wouldn't stress for now. He'll start talking more when he's ready.
I hope so lol. I try not to worry, but number one, as a FTM its tough not to worry about every lil thing. Plus i have my MIL in my ear telling me how S.Os sister's daughter is on the spectrum (self diagnosed, they dont even take her for vaccinations/well checks, but thats a whole nother issue) and i need to get DS checked since he isnt talking. He communicates his wants/needs physically, but just not verbally yet lol
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Things I never thought I'd say...
Until I became a mom:
I know I've posted this before but when your water was leaking did it stay leaking or just with movements or what? Did you get contractions shortly after or no? I rolled out of bed and felt warmth leak out but Idk if it was possibly urine or what...never had it happen. It didn't smell like anything really...I know I should either call l&d or go in but I just want some experiences please. I want to wait a bit just in case it's nothing.
We've decided to start potty training our 22 month old since he can pull down his pants, we've thrown ourselves into it. Now the question is, can 22 month olds be manipulative 😳? This child is something else. If we're having him do something he doesn't want to do, like going down for a nap, he'll start saying potty, if we let him go, he just runs all over the place, I guess forgetting he wanted to use the potty 🤦🏿♀️ Is this a thing? I just go get him and have him sit on the potty and I tell him, "i...
Read and talk to him as much as possible about every little thing. Its proven to help them develop language.
