My little one gets bruises on his knees and chins on his lower legs from crawling around the living room (we have hardwood) what can I do to reduce his bruising? He's also working on standing and walking and I dont want to restrict him from doing that. I did order a carpet and some foam mats but I already know hes not going to stay in one spot. And I dont want someone to judge me because of the bruising on his legs.

We have hardwood. The bruising phase doesnt last long. We used baby leggings or pants to give some cushion. Mats and carpet can work in some spaces but they will bump and bruise alot in learning to walk.

I've been given dirty looks for the bruises my my mil and step fil and my husband whole side of the family I normally put a pair of thick sweatpants on him. Depending how cold it is in the house. Sometimes if its hotter than usual I put a thin pair on him. I'm just tired of the dirty looks. It makes me feel like I'm failing as a mom.

you are a much nice mom then me. I would say something, but I know I'm like that. My oldest sported a chipped tooth for a while because he slipped in the bath (hubby was the one bathing him). And my youngest spent mothers day with an awesome carpet burn on her chin from falling while walking (also on hubby's watch). They each have had bumps and bruises. I approached it all with the honesty of kids are learning to function. If they didn't fall they'd never learn to walk.

Thank you. The only reason I dont say anything is because theyll guilt trip us and make us feel bad for what they've done. We hardly go near them. But when his mom does come around it a mind war.

Toxic people are never fun to be around. Nor fun for your littles or you. I don't play the guilt game. Hubby got a hard lesson from me on that front years ago. I just don't play. I speak my mind.

On a side note he tried to follow the same form of behavior with my oldest. Trying to guilt the kid into apologizing. I talking to him during my oldests nap and had to explain the 100 ways why it was wrong to try and pull that card. Had to give him a way to do things differently. Its helped. He doesnt let his parents guilt him anymore which helps him feel better about his life decisions

I have tiles and my lil guy would constantly have dirty knees or bruises, I bought a pair of sweat wrist bands and slid them up his legs to cover his knees, did the trick
