To the mommy’s who breast feed. I breast fed my 1st for like 5 days and was so sore I couldn’t even feed him I had to switch him to formula but I’m wanting to breast feed this one but I really don’t wanna go thru the pain again.. any one tried with your 1st didn’t work out so tried with your second and did ?

I breastfed for almost 3 months with my first but unfortunately my milk supply started dropping and just kept dropping each day to the point where my milk completely dried up so I was forced to switch to formula and it broke my heart but I was so happy my son had food because my body physically wasn’t producing anymore food. I’m going to give breastfeeding another try with my second so I’ve been watching YouTube videos on breastfeeding and I’ve been doing a lot more research this time around so I’d suggest going to YouTube and watching videos on breastfeeding because it’s helped educate me more on breastfeeding so I always suggest it to anyone who is going to breastfeed.

Oh well that’s good your trying again yeah I didn’t produce like anything and my son was constantly hungry

@meganrogers1329, Yeah I think I might of been overly stressed and stress can make your milk supply drop. I also suffered with postpartum depression and anxiety too so that could of also contributed to my low milk supply. I’m glad I’m trying again too I pray it’ll work out better for us both this time around! Good luck!

Unfortunately the pain is normal until the baby learns to latch properly/your nipples get used to it. My first 2 had a terrible latch and i was in pain for some time. Third time was the charm.

Oh okay thanks

Also if you had pain during breastfeeding then I think you might of had a shallow latch and there is videos on YouTube that’ll show you how to get a deeper latch and it shouldn’t cause any pain.

I was able to breastfeed both of mine, but with my first, my nipples felt like they were going to fall off for like 2 straight weeks. He eventually latched right and it all went away. I almost quit though.

I breastfed my first until he was almost two years. I was pregnant and didn’t want there to be resentment. I hurt when I fed my daughter in the beginning. You just have to push through. There are different tolls you can use to help the pain. It does go away! Breastfeeding is so convenient and so good for the baby.

Oh okay yeah I just was tired of crying every time I fed him but I’ll definitely give it a try

@meganrogers1329, the latch is key. See a lactation consultant! My hospital has a breastfeeding support group a few times a week. I went with both kids.

Nipple shields! I was BEYOND sore they were bleeding, lanolin wasn't helping and an LC said to use nipple shields till I healed and man they were a lifesaver, still sore but it was bearable

It hurt like hell for 7 weeks. We’ve dealt with both a tongue and lip tie which caused a shallow latch plus my right ribs were sprained. Just as he finally figured out the latch, I get a crack on the bottom of the nipple 😖 BUT it’s worth it for me. Formula is ridiculously expensive, there’s no guarantee that the formula you want to use will agree with babies stomach, and the prep time and washing so many bottles everyday makes me cringe

It’s going to hurt the first few weeks. No way around it. Stick through it and it will get easier. I breastfed for 14 months, the first 2 weeks are the hardest then it was easy for me.

The first month or two honestly suck and they breast feed non stop (doesn't mean your not making enough). I would google what a good latch looks like. Most women just let their baby latch on themselves but sometimes they do need a little help. You tease their lips until they open wide and while they are you hold above your nipple and get as much as you can in their mouth, a deep latch helps SO much with pain. My last had a great latch and although I did experience pain I didn't have bleeding nipples like I did with my first son. So that's a win.

But I only breastfed my first son 2 month and my second 15 so I was successful the second time.

With my daughter it was horrible. My nipples pealed, they would bleed and I would cry every time. This time around I started putting on the Nipple cream once per day 3 weeks prior to having my son. That helped hydrate my skin. I also used a nipple shield to help him with the latch. Baby Jacob and I are both happy campers.😊
