So i got prescribed citalopram 20mg, anyone have any experience with this pill?

Its going really well for me. I could still up it if I need but after a week I noticed I was able to function a whole lot better. The most clear point for me was driving. Before it I was in a constant struggle to not worry about other cars hitting us. After I noticed I was back to driving normally. For me it's for a mixture of anxiety and depression.
My side effects haven't been bad. Some insomnia which my doctor recommended some melatonin if I need it. Some digestive upset but I had that before with the anxiety so I can deal with it. I had low/non existent libido for the first 2 months but its bounced back. I'm sure partly because I feel better.
My parenting was suffering hard before it. I know I wasn't able to be the mom I wanted and needed to be. My littles were not as happy as they should've been. They have both adjusted more positively since too.
It worked really well for me so far.
Btw no weight gain on my part. I actually find I have more energy so I want to work out again and est healthier. 🤷♀️

@mother.of.2 I was the same. I was so happy that it started to help. And it seems like the dose worked well for my level of anxiety and depression. Doctor said I can come in any time if I feel like I need to bring it up more or adjust anything. Also I listed all my side effects and she had some good advice for me. (I take mine first thing in the morning to deal with the insomnia, and to help me eat by breakfast time).
@mother.of.2 Sorry im late responding. I loveeee it, but when I skip my meds I feel as though im going to lose my mind.
@twins1987 how many mg did they start you off with?
Is this your first time taking anything like it? Be warned that a lot of anxiety/depression medications can cause weight gain
Yes it's my first time, i tried doing meditation, and walking, therapy and i just can't anymore but Thank you so much for that heads up.
@mother.of.2 no problem. A lot of women aren't made aware of this side affect which can sometimes have an effect on self esteem which can worsen depression
@massgirl definitely, ill post an update in 2weeks, my dr said that by then i should for sure feel a difference

Wasn't good for me. I was started on 50mg then it got upped gradually to 150mg. Months had gone by and I didn't feel any different until I was on 150mg and then I just felt numb. All emotions I had before were gone. Good thing for some stuff I was dealing with but not for others. I couldn't cry when I needed to I just felt zoned out. I had insomnia really bad even when taking it in the morning and had to be prescribed sleeping tablets. But then every morning I felt so rough and tired I had to come off the sleeping tablets and then gradually lowered my dose back to 50mg. Then I fell pregant with my first and I went cold turkey.. best thing I ever did at the time but then my Dad was diagnosed with cancer. I went through a hard time but didn't have any medication until a few months after my daughter was born. I was prescribed Sertraline which was better for me x
