i dont understand long engagements. personally ive known my husband for 10 or 11 years. 3 years ago we started dating and a month later we ended up going to the court house and got married. we planned on getting married but we ended up at the court house one day when he got off work and just did it. a lot of people thought we were crazy and a lot of people didnt think wed last the 1st year but its been 3 years and 4 months and we have 6 kids. 4 are from him. 1 of the 4 is an angel baby. i had 2 already when we got together. but if i hadnt just gone out and done it i think my anxiety would have kept me from going through with it.
Yes, unless there is a ready like...saving for wedding. Other than that it may just be a commitment issue. When a man truly wants to marry a women....he does.
I don’t think some people just like long engagements. Although me personally I wouldn’t like it just because it would make me feel like he really didn’t want to commit to me after so long. I got engaged in 2015 and got married April of 2018.
I don’t really see the point in it, unless you need that time to save for the wedding you want, or something significant like waiting for a family member to come to the US or get out or jail or something else like that. Is there a date set? If not, then I do think it is too long, some people stay engaged forever. BUT if you are happy there is no fault in it :).
