Are there any moms on here familiar with the dog breed Pit Bull Terriers? My boyfriend just bought a 8 week old puppy and he claims the guy told him they’re good protectors for babies. I’m honestly not sure if he’s just saying this because he wants to keep the dog or what... has any of you had experiences with this specific dog being around your kids? I haven’t heard much about this dog breed but I know in some cities they are banned in my state.

I have a red nose pitt. Hes seriously the sweetest with all my kids and even when they were babies. It's how you raise the dog

@taylorsimone20 yeah it depends on the owner. And that goes for any breed any animal babe. Pitts in my opinion are the best dogs

We have a blue nose pitt. Had her since she was 8 weeks old and she's 8 years old now. It's all in how you raise them. Our girl is protective over me and my boys but that's how I trained her.

I think my boxer is mixed with pit bull and he’s the sweetest dog we’ve ever had but I still don’t fully trust him around my daughter. I heard pit bulls can snap, but that’s any dog really. It just worry’s me after all of the horror stories I’ve read.

I agree with you... you never really know. I actually don’t agree with people who say if you raise a dog right, you have nothing to worry about. My sister has a pit bull that is super super sweet, but he has snapped and one time he literally bit a hole in my dogs face. Completely unprovoked. And he’s so “protective,” that they can’t trust him around company at all. Also, I have a friend who had and grew up with pit bulls. She has always been one to tell people “it’s not the breed, it’s how you raise them”...until the day one of hers killed and shredded the other two. At he end of the day, you have to be careful no matter the breed. I have a Dalmatian pit bull who is really sweet and loving, but she will never be allowed alone with my kids. 🤷🏼‍♀️

yep! I never allow any of my dogs alone near my daughter what so ever. She always has to be supervised around them. I have a full bred boxer and boxer mix. They’re both sweet as can be but you never know 🤷‍♀️ they’ve learned their boundaries and know that I don’t like it when they’re in her face so they keep they’re distance.

It really doesn’t matter the breed. Dogs in general shouldn’t be trusted 100%. But it’s all about how they are raised like others said. Also, if you’re a renter or will in the future be aware that you may be denied a lease with that breed.

I wouldn’t trust any other dog to protect my family. But it depends on how you raise them.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

@itsamemario, you deleted your post before I could hit send but this is my comment: I don’t know if this answers your question but this is my answer. My son is 7 and he knows race and color. Why? Because he himself comes from a family that is multi racial and because he has already experienced racism. I also believe as his mother it’s my job to teach him color and the cold hard truth about society. He knows what’s going on in this world. I’d be hurting him if I allowed him to blindly walk outside without this information. Children of color are being targeted and killed too. It’s not just adults. I let my son know we treat everyone equally and with respect. I let him know that we love everyone for their differences. In every aspect. Color, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual preference we love everyone.
