Congrats! I got a lot of help from nurses while i was in the hospital. I couldn't for the life of me tell if he was swallowing, but the nurses could. So it was reassuring. I also had the lactation consultant's phone number that i used several times. Lol It was a little nervewreaking.

As for foods - just remember that baby is "eating" what you eat, so try to keep it healthy. I don't think there's anything you CAN'T eat, but obviously you'll want to avoid drinking alcohol before feeding. And if baby seems fussier or extra gassy, could be your diet. So just things to remember. 😊

I didn’t get to feed as soon as my son arrived because he swallowed meconium and was in the nicu I breastfed as soon as I could tho when he was just over 14 hours old. I was young and knew nothing about breastfeeding. It was super painful at first but got better and was a breeze by the time he was 3 weeks old. I have breastfed all 4 of my babies. There isn’t anything you can’t eat, but it’s better to stay healthy. You may find your baby gets gassy when you eat certain foods you can cut them out if you want. My second was allergic to milk protein (she still is) so I had to cut anything with milk out of my diet it caused her to get eczema and be super gassy if I had milk or anything that contained milk protein.
