I need help with my dog!
She got off her chain today and when she came back she had a huge gash on her inner thigh of her back leg. It is bloody and super gross. You can see the meat in her thigh. Nobody can get her in tonight and the places that can first thing tomorrow want like $1000. I don’t have that kind of money, at all! What can I do for her?

Her licking it like crazy is excellent tbh. Her saliva will help heal it quicker than anything in your medicine cabinet as well as help with infection. But still keep it clean yourself & check it often. I’d say if she’s running around playing & having a good time, she’s not too bothered so I’m sure it’s okay. Sometimes that spot can look worse than it really is. My dog had a cut on her foot one time & I seen so much blood I thought she was gonna die & her foot looked bad & real gross too but we cleaned it & she spent basically the entire night laying down licking it & it was almost gone by the next morning. I couldn’t even believe it. Dogs seem to heal up pretty quick. See how she is in the AM & go from there. It may do a good bit of healing overnight where it looks like a simple tiny scratch the next day.
See if you can make payments at the vet. Does she not have a regular vet she goes to? Sometimes if you see a vet regularly they will allow a payment plan.
@disco.tits, @icebergahead, I can try to get her into the normal vet tomorrow morning, but all ER vets want $1,000.
I see, some places you can apply for care credit and pay over time. If that is an option. They usually will work to help you and get your dog treated right away.
She needs that wound to be flushed, cleaned and sutured properly plus start her on antibiotics if it is already infected.
Also, if she is in pain they will provide oral pain medication.
This is not something I’d handle at home.
I could so stitch it myself, kind of into that type of stuff! I just don’t know how to make it less painful for her. I will use some peroxide and clean it in a bit, I’m just so worried about infection. She is licking it like crazy, is that bad?
NO never stich it yourself that can cause a huge infection & it’s good she’s running around ,if u see pus,or she seems hot like a fever or won’t eat or drink def take her in in less than 3 days , just because, she is your pet she will not just sit there and allow you to stich her wound up has to be in a vet hospital where it’s sanitized and done by Professional s “check out humane society in your area or call local vets and explain your situation any injured pet Will NOT act same if you try to stich them up Your likely to get bite and not good outcome be safe
I would take her to get stitched. She could get a really nasty infection. Are there any low cost vet clinics in your area?? Or is it possible you could sign up for a pet insurance plan so you don't have to pay that much out of pocket?
@shauna.johnson You can just search low income or low cost vet clinic! You can also call local shelters and see if they know where you could go to get her vet care asap. Please don't try to stitch her yourself. That will be excruciatingly painful for her and could cause more damage than good. Fingers crossed you can get her in first thing!
Basic first aid: cleaning it with soap and water, peroxide or iodine, and the triple antibiotic cream daily until healed and she will be ok. Just keep it clean. Keep an eye on it and take her in if gets infected or doesn't start healing within a week. You should see a noticeable change in about 3 days.
If you can see the meat it really should be stitched. If you can stomach it you could get her pain meds and do it yourself. Most people cant/ wont do it. I dont know girl i think if you can keep it clean it might be okay but its a huge risk of infection.
@lifegrowsinside, @earthymama, I used a warm wash cloth so far. It’s pretty open, like I can see the meat. Would peroxide hurt it? Should I let it go or take her to get it stitched?
It might burn just like it would with you if you had it. If it doesn’t start getting better within a week or starts looking infected take the baby to a vet. Some places will be cheaper if you have wic, Medicaid, or ebt. Look at all the vets around to see which one would be cheaper. Also you can try to set up a payment plan. But I would wait a week to see if it starts healing up especially with not really having the money because I’m in the process of trying to get one of our dogs fixed to try to get him calmer and we struggling with money also so I know how you feel but everything will be okay.
@earthymama, I have antibiotic cream, but I thought it would be bad to get in the cut itself?
Wash it and spray peroxide and wrap with gauze ,,on a table top if it’s not too deep you can use super glue and press the skin together evenly but,if it’s deep she’ll most likely need stitches ,I am a Pet groomer and many vets recommend this even ers at time use this glue too instead of stitches/staples
I have tried wrapping it, but it’s right on the muscle so it won’t stay. I can see the meat, so would the super glue thing work or no?
@shauna.johnson, can u take another. Pic hard to tell in that pic how deep it looks it sounds see ;( if u see a lot of meat but,in some parts of the dog like inner legs it can be a scrape and the skin there is paper thin if torn ,in grooming 20 yrs I see all kinds of dogs w skin issues sadly not everyone takes the dog to vet for skin issues or worse . do u have a wrap the kind u would on a sprained ankle thicker than gauze? And u can spray peroxide or use a cotton ball to put on is okay
@sherrynygirl, I can try to take another if she stops running around haha
Keep it cleaned. When one of my dogs got scratched by a cat we use to have we put peroxide and rubbing alcohol on it. One in the morning and the other at night to keep it from getting a infection.

Her helmet she got so she can be safe (as she told me) when she rides her bike and scooter lol

is it wrong to be frustrated that my daughter acts like she can't do certain things with out my help. she plays dumb a lot and I wish I could be like no girl show what you know. she acts like she can't trace or match shapes so shes ask for "mommy finger" to help her so I barely hold her hand and she magically can do it but if I dont hold her hand she just scribbles and acts like she doesnt know
the pic is how she traces when I'm "helping her" otherwise it'll just be scribbles all over the page
My friend had a question that I can not answer: if her boyfriend tested for Chlamydia and it came back positive she more then likely has it? She is 18 weeks pregnant and was wondering on how to call and ask the OB to get tested again and I honestly don’t know what to say to her

This is what happens when a littles sister doesn't listen and goes a bit bridezilla. She wants all her sisters to wear the same thing for her wedding in a few weeks. I told her "I can wear something as similar as I can make it, but being pregnant I can't wear the same exact thing. It just won't work". Then she settled on a denim shirt dress. Cute, but wouldn't work on me normally, let alone pregnant (I'm pretty tall). She said she'd just femme a bigger size to fit over the tummy. I told her the ...
