Is it bad that I don't want my kid to have name brand stuff at all?
No, I have older kids that hardly know what brands are because I'm like that. We shop sales in this house just like my mom taught me. You don't need brands to look nice. I will buy name brand shoes sometimes because they last longer but not full price. I will NOT spend over $30 on kids shoes. Just got some adidas the other day for $16.
I feel the way I do cause everybody around me wants to like deck my kid out in nothing but name brand and kids nowadays are very materialistic and I don't want me kid to start to come and expect that everything I buy is going to be name brand do u get what I'm saying?
While I very much agree with your perspective, my kids wear what I buy or they pick out. Name brands can be more expensive but depending on sales and how you shop can actually cost less in the long run than non as their companies can afford heavier clearance prices. Old Navy is my daughter's best friend, especially end of season sales. You can average less $2 per pair of leggings/shirts and $5 per pants/dresses. Always do what you feel is right especially if you feel strongly, but especially if you're on a budget do what's best for you.
Nope. I don't hardly buy my kids name brand stuff unless I get it on sale or second hand. Most of the time you're paying for the label and not the quality.
I find this to be true for everything except shoes. We will spend money on nike’s because they last. However we also buy play shoes from Walmart.
@bigmama18 I do agree with this. My husband can ruin a pair of cheap shoes in a month or 2 but Nikes will last him over a year. I only buy my kids cheap shoes for now though because they grow out of them so quickly. 😅
@_leah, we only buy them at the outlets. Never spend more than $20 on the younger kids. My oldest however, the shoes are getting up there in price. But he’s out of the stage of growing a bunch and ruining everything, so it works out.
Brands don’t matter to us. We don’t avoid name brands purposely. We get whatever is cute and/or on sale!
It's kind of odd to feel strongly about something like that. But nothing wrong with it. Why? You usually get what you pay for.💁

@jojocannon, I understand what you’re trying to say. I think a lot of that will come from how you raise your child too. Speaking to them and raising them to prioritize other values. Basically you don’t want to raise a spoiled brat. I wouldn’t want to either.
I shop at Once Upon A Child, Walmart, and target for my daughter. I usually get new brand stuff from Once Upon A Child.
