I think there can be a healthy mix of both. Certainly we have unique issues that our parents didn’t face. Or at least my parents didn’t in regards to the internet and technology.
I think it’s the truth. I was born in the 80s and times are so different. At 12/13 I was still playing barbies and now girls that age have their periods. Some 13 yr olds are mothers. Drugs, and killings are so much worse.
I agree to a degree I will raise my daughter and future children the way that I was raised but so many children now aren't even going to come close to the way I was raised. I will have to teach my daughter to adjust to these people accordingly. This quote is correct though; the world that I grew up in is vastly different than what my daughter was born into. Some things I can control and others I can't.
Disagree, the real reason I can’t raise my kids the way my parents raised me and my siblings is because my parents are alcoholics and abused us verbally, mentally, and physically, and I’m not about to treat my boys the way my parents treated me. The reason I disagree is because my husband parents are great parents and my husband could totally raise our sons the way they raised him and in some ways we are but in other ways we aren’t because everyone has their own parenting styles that works for them so we aren’t raising our kids exactly the way that his parents raised my husband and his siblings.
I agree to an extent. I was raised with manners which is something I instill in my children. I was raised in the 80’s so I didn’t have a cell phone til I was in high school and I didn’t have access to social media or everything that comes along with it so my parents didn’t have to worry about that. My parents were very strict where I am more open minded and talk about things openly where my parents didn’t. Some things I carry on to my children and some I don’t.
