So back when I was 18-20 I used to be addicted to drugs and haven’t used since. The OBGYN had asked if I was every on drugs and I was honest with them and I said yes as a teenager I used drugs. When I was pregnant with my daughter they made me do a drug which I understand because it was 2016 which was only 4 years of me being clean but now again with my second they want to do another one and it’s 2019 which makes me 7 years sober and it’s kinda a slap in the face to me because I feel like they are trying to make me feel bad or like I should be scared. Should I change my OBGYN? I will do the test no problem because I know I’m not on anything but I don’t like being judged for my past at all.

I think it’s more because it’s on your record and they just want to make sure. There’s so many that do relapse. Me personally I wouldn’t change Ob’s.

The only reason I want to switch is because my midwife was very rude and grinned at the fact they wanted one

if they were rude and offended you then yes I would get a new one. I wouldn’t want to deal with that my whole pregnancy.

My obgyn does drug tests on everyone. History or not. They do one at your first appointment and they do one at your last appointment. My obgyn is in a city known for drugs though so I think that's why it's mandatory.

That I can understand but being rude to someone about it who has been sober for 7 years kinda feels like a slap to the face

yeah that's kinda messed up that they were rude about it. I'd be upset too. There's a certain way to talk to people. Just because you did something as a teenager doesn't define who you are as a person today.

Drug testing is normal, history or not. They do it at your OBs office and when you deliver in the hospital.

I’m honestly surprised they ask. My OBGYN doesn’t ask or even tell you they’re testing. They take your urine at every appointment when pregnant & test for drugs & keytones or something like that. But they never asked my permission. I also never cared or asked about it though & made it a big deal. I just peed & went about my business 😂

I don’t mind doing the test but they want to do a swab which I think is a little extra. I always assumed they tested my pee but idk. Her attitude about it really pissed me off to

That’s mandatory for everyone history or not. My ob tested the urine at every appointment for drugs n protein levels ect

I’d change OB if she was rude about it. Your past is that your past. You shouldn’t have to relive or feel guilty or bad about it.

Yeah shit pisses me off. Like I can understand being newly sober like a year or a few months but I’m almost 8 years sober
