Soooo my last job was super cool about me breast feeding and pumping. I feel like this job is going to give me trouble.

There’s legit no free place to pump except for my office. Which is a quality lab. There’s no emergency to check parts or no emergency to where anybody would need the lab in that time frame. Some days nobody comes in at all. I think they’re just making my life complicated.

This email rubs me the wrong way. Seems very unprofessional and discouraging. Maybe you should ask for a location to be provided that won’t ever be needed for something else/will 100% be available during your pumping times. I like how he/she basically said we are OK with you pumping as long as you do these things. I wouldn’t give a flying flip who is OK or NOT OK with you pumping. This email did nothing but provide extra stress that you don’t need.

Breastfeeding and pumping is hard enough without this added stress.

At my job you can only do it in your car. No where to go all they do is give you longer breaks. That does seem unprofessional im sorry. Sadly they aren't the only company who seem like this.

@k_e_s0219, @cams, unfortunately HR isn’t in charge here like most companies. She basically just does pay roll. It’s a privately owned and ran company. So they basically do what they want. There’s two main managers above my boss that he has to report to. So I guess that’s what they told him when he asked. There’s nobody else here that pumps or that has young kids. So I don’t think they’ve ever had anybody do it before. I’ve seen them make up reasons to fire people in the past. That weren’t true. So I’m afraid if I say anything else that’s what they will do to me

I would be pissed if my boss did that to me! Is there anyone above their head you can chat with? Maybe HR? You’d think in this day of age people would not act like this. It’s already ridiculous that maturity leave is so short! And now they want to give issues on how you choose to feed your baby!

I agree. This email should be sent to HR.

@mamaste, other management. The HR here isn’t in control. It’s privately owned and ran company. Just under 60 employees

It’s the law to let you have a space to pump.

I’ve found it really helpful to get a lunchbox to put my milk and supplies in and I have wipes to do a quick wipe of my flanges. I just keep it all in the fridge so I don’t have to wash anything until I get home.

I tried to be discreet about it but apparently a do not disturb sign isn’t obvious enough and people will still walk in since there is no lock on the room I use. Everyone knows what’s going on now since one of the men who walked in on me setting up told everyone don’t go in when the sign is up.

@momofeach, Can you leave the cooler in the regular fridge where everyone else keeps their lunch? Did they say no to that? I don’t see why that would be a problem.

@rina414, I could but I don’t want people to bother it here. So I can bring in a mini fridge an keep by my desk.

Very unprofessional this person should be ashamed of themselves.

You should keep this just in case they do anything and besides it doesn’t seem legal for them to send that in the first place.

I agree. But that’s my boss. There’s no other place to pump here. No spare rooms. I don’t see why I have to be so secretive about it anyways. It’s freaking natural.

@momofeach,

I’m sorry that your boss is treating you unfairly.

I’d just pump wherever I can and if it’s a problem then that’s their issue.

I highly doubt they could fire you over pumping and if they do you could most likely sue them for wrongful termination.

Breast pump covered by insurance

I've already done what I needed to find out what type of pump I get covered through insurance. It turns out, with my insurance, I can't even get my pump shipped to me until I call them with all the birth details of my baby. So...wth am I supposed to do having a baby and no pump?! I plan to pump exclusively and this REALLY throws a wrench in my plans.

babybump_user You may want to ask your doctor for a prescription for a hospital grade pump if you
may042017 I will be ordering the Medela Pump in Style. I'm pretty sure my insurance covers either that
babybump_user With my insurance I couldn't get one till after baby was born and it took forever to
