This is work related!!!!

I need advice ladies! I work as a cashier at a restaurant if a customer tips on the receipt it’s my tip. Yesterday i was busy in the back getting ice for the beers up front so my MANAGER took A order on MY register . At the end of my shift she gave me my tips I counted it and it didn’t add up to my “tip out” amount when I asked her about it she said “I took five dollars because I Took a order and they tipped you 10 dollars” I don’t feel like this is right for multiple reasons. For one I know she makes more money than me for two its my register it’s my money , the third reason is the credit card tips get Took out my check. I plan on telling my General Manager and reporting her to HR! I should feel upset right? It’s not only “$5” but I get taxed on my credit card tips! I don’t understand what manager gets tips!!

If you didn't complete the transaction, I'd say your manager was being nice and splitting it with you rather than just taking the whole thing. (If he said "they tipped you" and not "they tipped $10" then I could see the confusion. But I'm not sure how your individual business handles tips.

I'd say if you had no interaction with the customer at all.. I'd leave it alone.

@bunny7133, if it's documented that you received it then yes, complain.

I understand now. Yeah I'd say. Even if it is like $5. $5 repeatedly adds up and you don't want him to think it's acceptable to happen again.

I work in HR and I would say since you didn’t make the transaction so you’re not entitled to the tip. But maybe you have a policy that managers do not get tips then that’s a different story. You should have access to a handbook. I would make sure you’re in the right before making a complaint. I personally find it odd cashiers get tips at all. Lol

What about the waitresses? Why does the cashier get a tip?
