I swear.. I asked on a local mom group about specific questions regarding traveling with my car seat and stroller and the one person who replied.. just seriously.. yes, I am aware that it is safer to have the toddler in a car seat on the plane. But I just really can’t see how the hell we will spin that. I have to make sure to bring all our carryons and also hold the toddler. So lugging the huge seat we are bringing just.. I would rather check it safely. Originally we weren’t even planning on bringing the seat but we decided to just buy new seats out here and bring this one to leave at my dad’s house (since my current one for him is US based and not Canada based like it should be).
I just know ther is no way we are going to be able to keep him in his car seat for a 6h flight. Last time we flew last year I had to constantly get up and walk him around. Just man.. why can’t you just answer my question and not give me links to articles about it being safer. I already damn well know but sadly it isn’t as easily doable when you are huge and pregnant already.. 😩😒

The lady that is giving her two cents probably has never even flown before with a kid. Thousands of people fly around the world with no car seats on the plane. If it was really that dangerous they would have made it mandatory a long time ago.

I mean I agree if it was something where injuries happened very often I would really think they would require car seats rather than just recommend.

I totally understand this. We used to put my son in the car seat on the plane when we traveled but it was such a damn pain. Keeping my son sitting wasn’t the issue it was the installing and lugging it around. We only go back to our home states so I have a spare car seat in both locations and we install it when they pick us up.

@amouryaya09, How the hell do they lose a huge stroller! I swear! Lol that is nuts. And I think it would cost a ton to try to ship the car seat. :/ And the stroller I have isn’t a very expensive one. Just am curious if they will let me gate check it rather than baggage check it. Just wish the rules were a bit more black and white instead of kinda gray. When I traveled last year there were a bunch of larger strollers that were left at the gate much bigger than the umbrella we ha brought but the umbrella is such a garbage stroller.

I checked it in at the gate too. 🤦🏽♂️did you buy the seat already? You could buy it online and ship it to his house instead? They will gate check the car seat but idk if they will do it in the box.

@amouryaya09, We did. Because I am in Canada currently and I wanted to get a Canadian regulation sweet for a while now. And then the second one for our baby number 2. It is his current seat that is US regulation that we are going to bring back to us to the states.

There’s a harness called a cares harness that you can get that’s made just for planes and toddlers if your kiddo won’t sit in a normal seatbelt

I am not sure if he will or won’t to be honest as we never tried. Last trip when he was 15m he mostly just sat on me. Even though we had a seat for him too for one of the flights.

I've flown with all my kids at baby ages. I always check their car seat and they sit on my lap for the flight. I prefer it this way. And yes, its safe
