It irritates me to my core when people think being a stay at home mom is “easier”. When my oldest was a baby I worked AND went to school full time, while breastfeeding/pumping, all on my own. Now, I’m a stay at home mom with the help of my husband who works overtime. I’ve done both. Being parent is challenging no matter what your situation is, no need to compare or judge! We’re all in this together. ❤️❤️

I have this argument with my husband A LOT!! For some reason he is adamant that because he works, he does more, he more tired than I am. Like I get you work mate, but no, you don't do MORE, no your not more TIRED. He even tried to say he'd love to swap and that he would be able to clean the whole house in an hour 🤦♀️ I said how, by leaving the baby hungry, wet and crying? Being a sahm is hard, because your home all day, therefore are expected to do everything. There's no load sharing or help from anyone. I'm dreading going back to work also though, because nothing will get done! Being a mum is harder than any job, whether you work or stay at home. The world is on our shoulders and so much is expected of us all the time.

I think that mind set is just ridiculous. I’m lucky, because my husband thinks I do way more work, even though he works overtime every week. I reassure him that both of our jobs are important. Honestly though, I think being a stay at home mom is SO much more work, but I imagine it depends on your family and situation.

I feel like this type of thinking ultimately played a part in why my parents are getting divorced. Mom works from home full time, raised all of us, and then cared for her own aging grandparents and mom. My is a doctor. They both argued all the time about who worked harder and who was more tired.
With my husband I’ve always emphasized that no matter who does what, his time and his tiredness isn’t more valuable than mine. His mental health doesn’t take priority over mine. And vice versa. I’m hoping this rephrasing of thinking helps the both of us in the long run 🤞🏻bc even though we’re both doing different things, they’re both important for the family.

it's definitely frustrating to say the least. On the same note, he does tell me he appreciates everything I do and how I'm doing an amazing job etc I think he more says it to get out of doing shit. He will help if I tell him he needs to, but a lot of the time it comes with a lot of sighing. I tell him I understand how exhausted he is, he's a baker so it's quite obvious he would be. I think it's just because he thinks I'm capable of doing everything and I'm fine. When I explain it to him, he understands, but then a few days later, the comments start again. When I'm working again, I'm sure he will realise how much I actually do in a day, because it won't be done when he gets home.

@mamagunn.no.1 said it well. Being a mom is hard work. We blame ourselves for everything that goes wrong with our children or any pain they feel. We bear the burden of feeling their feelings etc. and then we get our hearts broken as they grow up and need us less. Working in or out of the home, our jobs never end.

Exactly! And only another mother can understand how big a job being a mum really is. No one can compare unless they are one themselves! It's so frustrating for people to think that anything about it is "easy". It's the busiest, most nerve wracking, stressful job in the world! And your right, it is never finished. My grandmother used to say to me that a mother's work is never done. She was 100% right!

The guilt is SO real. My husband feels some guilt for not being around 24/7, but he bares a fraction of the guilt I feel. I feel terrible going to the grocery store, but he has no issue hanging out with friends until 1 or 2am on occasion.

People have no idea how hard being a stay at home mom is.

Let me tell you, work is a break for me. I get to have a cup of hot coffee, have uninterrupted conversations and not be constantly bossed around by babies. I love my babies and being with them but having done both, being a stay at home mom is the hardest job EVER

I work one day a week, it’s my little mini vacation. It helps with my sanity! Lol

Yes!!! Love this so much. We all, working it stay at home, have our daily struggles. I’m a sahm and I couldn’t imagine how I would manage life if I were working. But I know I’d manage just like everyone else.

Honestly it depends on the work you do as well but as said before you shouldn’t compare
