Anything that is “leftover” after a meal. No sitting required.

When your done eating the meal and you have food leftover

I would even consider it “eating leftovers” if you reheat it for second dinner the same day.

Here leftovers is anything in the fridge from the night before.

If it didn’t go in our belly at the time of the meal. It’s left over.

Left overs for me is once dished up whatever’s left over is .. left overs.
