Exclusively Pumping Question:
I’m one week post c-section and I’m only pumping about 2-4 oz a day total. I’m assuming I’m using the right size flanges, and I’m doing the “pump 8x a day” trick, but I feel like I should be getting more.
Should I make an appointment with a Lactation consultant or should I wait it out?

Try power pumping. At night. Make sure your eating enough, and make sure you are staying plenty hydrated!

Is it enough to feed him? Have you tried skin to skin?

We are supplementing with formula as he lost 6% body weight by day 4. So, I’d say I’m able to give him breast milk every 4th bottle and the rest are formula.
I’m SO cool with formula, but I’d love to be able to just give him pumped and save that money. 😂

& yeah! We do skin to skin for about an hour two times a day.

I'd say yes, make an appointment, did you pump for your first? There are lots of tips and tricks. Your milk should be in and maybe she can help you with your pump to make sure everything is good on that end. I have used heat, Powerade, massaging and skin to skin all day and especially before you pump.

Try doing skin to skin before pumping. That will stimulate your milk supply.

Trying now 🙌🏼

Maybe your body isn’t producing enough because you weren’t as far along with him as you were with Faye?? I massaged my breasts while I pumped and it made a huge difference! Maybe you can try that?

Oh I didn’t even think of that! I know c-section can mess with it because the hormones are not as strong / totally different.
I’ll try!

At one week you should be getting way more than that. It would be a good idea to see a lactation consultant to see if she has any tips for you. Also you can try holding him while you pump.

Good to know. That’s what I was thinking. Thank you!
