You’re right, we’ve come a long way but it’s still not far enough. Women still make 75 cents on the dollar on average compared to a man. Tuesday was Equal Pay Day. That’s the day in the year where women have to work beyond December 31st to earn the equivalent of what men made for that previous year. We have lax laws when it comes to punishing sexual assault and rape, even when it comes to children. Men in congress are making laws that dictate women’s healthcare access and affordability. The most recent government panel on women’s health had not ONE single woman on it. Women are routinely passed over for promotions or punished professionally for taking maternity leave. Drug manufacturers regularly only use MEN in their drug trials so we usually don’t find out about dangerous side effects for women until that drug goes to market and women start taking it. I could go on & on. Until these things STOP happening, we are not equal. We are second-class citizens.
