My 1 month son is having complications with his tummy and it won’t let him sleep i give him gas relief drops at night and gripe water during the day sometimes it works but I think he just has pains of needing to poop but nothing is coming out not even farts I felt his stomach when I was feeding him and it has some bubbles, what can I do to help him??
Oversupply?? No clicking sounds and he sometimes falls off when he’s falling asleep then I take him off and he wakes up right away crying for more
@babybump01, clicking sounds would signal a lip or tongue tie. An oversupply would mean you’re over producing and you have a fast letdown which causes baby to swallow a lot of air. Also it would mean a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance, and getting too much foremilk causes a lot of gas. That’s what I had with my daughter, a fast letdown and an imbalance. When I pumped I got several ounces of watery milk before getting the hindmilk. She was always gassy. Also your diet could play a role, try cutting out dairy and any gassy foods like broccoli, cabbage, beans, tomato sauce, etc.
I gave my son chamomile tea and it relaxed him and made him poop a little bit cuz he was having the same issue. I gave 2oz of tea and put 2 oz of water
Could be a few factors. I always start with external. Lip ties or tongue ties could be a factor, allowing baby to take in too much air while nursing. A good lactation consultant should be able to help you see if this a factor. Also latching issues can cause gas as well.
Second. Could be an issue with what you are eating. Some babies don't do well if mom is eating foods that they have intolerance or allergies towards.
Tummy time and gas drops can help for some issues. But baby might have some other gastric issue.
A quick Google search of lip or tongue ties can definitely help you with ruling that out. Most of the ones that cause issues are easier to spot. Second you can try eliminating foods. Common ones that breastfed babys have issues with are dairy, eggs, and nuts. Dairy is 2 weeks of full elimination form your diet before you might see results. Egg and nuts is after cutting it out from a week.
Do you have an oversupply? Does baby make clicking sounds when nursing? Does he sometimes “fall off” the breast when nursing?
