But for my oldest that was the exact reason I gave him my last name. Men don't get that right just because your sperm is out there. Can't bring myself to say "fathered" a child because he has never. So excuse me for not knowing the right term. With my 17 month old it's a little different. Her dad lives with her. So I made that choice too. Took a lot of debating in my head though. One of my tough decisions and kind of pushed it on me but still at least he's around

I look at it like motherhood. If a mom is absent from her kids life, you wouldn't call her a mother. She didn't mother the child. So a father is no different.
If he is a donor, bio, ex or whatever, those are the terms we should use.
Parents, mother, father, mom, dad, ect. Should be for whomever is raising and caring for the child.
