So I've been drinking a ton of water since I was brought up to my room and I've been pumping every 2 hours but I'm not pumping anything. Feeling really discouraged. The nursery isn't giving babygirl any formula as they have her hooked up to an IV but Im already feeling like a failure :(

@cfjones914 I know! She looks identical to her brother when he was born too. I love her so much!
Don't get discouraged mama. Your may milk take a few days to a week or so to come in. Try hand expressing and warm compresses. Try to stay rested, peaceful and calm. I know it's hard to do. Prayers for you and baby!!!
@xryztalroze thank you! I not only got to hold her, but shortly after I wrote that message, I was able to breastfeed her and she did great. I've had her in my arms pretty much all day. Went to nurse her again, but she wouldn't have any of it the 2nd time. Had to come back to my room for shift change and I'm about to head back down to the nursery again to hopefully try and feed her again.
Shes doing a lot better today than yesterday. They've weaned her back on IV fluids, sugar water, and oxygen. Not positive, but hoping they'll have her completely off everything by morning.

@xryztalroze thank you!! I'm trying my best. I haven't had a hot meal yet today bc I've been in the nursery holding her all day, but I don't keep breaks and thats when I go eat. It has been a very long week, mentally, physically, and emotionally. Thank you so much!!
Mine took a couple days, the colostrum is supposed to be enough. I only had to supplement because she wouldn’t latch and then her glucose started to get low. They gave me 48 hrs though before they did formula. She’s 12 days now and gets formula very seldom.
Yeah, I'm only getting a few drops of colostrum but I can't feed her anyway bc of fluid in her lungs. I can only rub what I do get out onto her lips.
Milk doesn't come in till like a week later sometime. The fast i got my milk in was 3 days after having my little one.
I'm not even getting much colostrum tho. Only a few drops here and there.
@soon2bmommyof4 the few drop you get are good she dosent need much her belly is not the big. You are doing good just keep up what you are doing. Try not to stress it is normal.
@mom2les thank you. I'm trying my best. I may be able to feed her tonight, so I'll just keep pumping every 2-3 hours until then.
My milk didnt come in until 4 days after I had my kids, we were already home. Just keep pumping/stimulating and they probably will supplement if shes a premie. It's not a failure it's just a bump in the road. You got this!
She had fluid in her lungs so they're not allowing me to feed her and they aren't supplementing either. They have her on IV fluids tho. I've only been able to get drops of colostrum but I can rub that on her lips.
And thank you. It's been very hard on me emotionally. She's my first baby to not be with me right after birth.
It took a while for my milk to come in after my preemie. Don't get discouraged. Try oatmeal, almonds and dark chocolate.
I'm having oatmeal for breakfast tmrw morning. I have oatmeal bars/snacks in my bag, but hubby put my clothes in his bag so he'd have less to carry up and left my snacks in his car. Ugh
@soon2bmommyof4 can they bring you more food? Usually Breastfeeding moms get extra meals
@laniejay not sure. Didn't ask tho. They brought me lunch and from the options, I got a salad with chicken and some peaches.

****TMI****need advice...I've been feeling good physically today but my baby isn't hitting the number of movement per hour and has since I got up in the am. I was having loose bowels which have gotten worse and now I've only felt when I've went to receive my bowels and she balls up hard. and I've had major Increase of pressure in abdomen vagina and rectal areas...any ideas what's up?
