Anyone ever moved to a new state with your family?

My husband is desperately wanting to move across the country. We have no family there and currently are very close to both our parents. Moving would mean leaving that support system behind. I also just started a new job that I really enjoy and am wanting to get more experience before relocating.

Just looking for advice on how to talk to my husband. And also to see if anyone else has moved away from family when their kids were little and how it all worked out. #myfirstpost

Before my daughter was even thought about I literally sold everything and moved to Hawaii on a whim. It worked out for a year or so but once i was pregnant i moved back in order to be able to see my mother more. Even tho we are a few states away still there is no ocean in between

@nursemamma It was fun while it lasted. I was also a caregiver so getting a job was as easy as pie. Now I dont know if I could with my daughter. Or soon to be son.

I'm so worried about us as well. We will have to move probably within the year to California for my husband's Army Reserves career, and then 9 months after that possibly to Colorado Springs. As someone who has always been a few hours drive away from family, if not a few minutes, I can see this being really difficult for me.

My fiance' and I moved from Illinois to Colorado last August. It is literally just me, him, and our three kids! Closest family is 1000 miles away. I was VERY homesick at first but we've finally gotten into our routine and I think the move has brought my fiance' and I closer since we literally only have each other to lean on.

That's awesome! My husband will be working long hours and I will be working 12 hour shifts eventually so I'm worried that not only will we be away from friends and family but we will hardly ever see each other or our kids

We havent moved yet but we are planning a move from Texas to Colorado this time next year. We have no one there but know it will be good for our little family. Our parents currently live only a mile from each other and watch our son when I have to work weekends so it will be hard losing our support system but feel it will also make us stronger as a family since we would have to rely on each other more.

Man, you are so brave! I keep telling my husband no. I'm more worried about finances I think. I dont really know. Haha I moved away for college no problem but moving my kids away from their grandparents makes me sick!

@nursemamma I was scared at first also like I am such a family person and even plan all the family parties attend every family event and birthdays so it will be tough on that aspect but we can always come back and visit and plan on bring our son down for a month during the summer to alternate between the grandparents houses and come down during major holidays if can afford it. It will be good for our family as we have been apart for so long it seems and just need to go and focus on us. There is always video chatting and their only a phone call away.

We moved away about a month and a half ago, no family or friends. It’s been rough but I don’t regret it. I had recently gotten a great promotion at work and I was forced to quit my job. My husband got an amazing job offer and we couldn’t turn it down.

@nursemamma, It has been really hard to be honest. We try to FaceTime all of our family as much as we can. I know Aria misses her friends and teachers at daycare and we desperately miss our family. I said no 3 times (3 job offers) to my husband. I just wasn’t ready to uproot our family from the state we had both lived our whole lives and where most of our family and friends are. The 4th offer my husband got was for more than we had been making combined plus a sign on bonus so it became worth it for us. I used to make a lot more money than him and now we can live off of his salary alone and it’s so nice to have the option. Although I do miss work. I’ve been a SAHM for about a month and a half now. The only reason we moved is because the offer was too good to pass up. I refused to move for anything less. I am so grateful that my husband is so good at what he does that he’s worth so much to employers. But since your husband owns his own business that’s a little more difficult unless he plans on working for someone else. Are you looking to buy a house? Are you planning on moving down south where is warm nearly year round?

@tiredmama0917 that's really great to be able to stay at home with the kids. I dont think we will be in that position for quite a while unfortunately. Hoping to rent until we know that we like it there. Yes he wants to move to southern Florida

@nursemamma, yeah we are in an apartment for the time being until we decide whether or not we want to stay here. I never thought we would be in a position that I could be a SAHM. I went back to work at 6 weeks exactly after if having her, it sucked. Well he will definitely has business year round there, just gotta watch for gators lol. Honestly though you just have to do what’s best for you, your husband, and your kids. Ultimately that’s what matters most. I used to live 3 minutes away from my mom and my sister before we moved. It’s a big scary thing to move away from everyone. You’ll make the right decision ❤️

mrshayslip14 @mrshamilton830, 8 weeks is the earliest. it's very expensive though
