I plan on breastfeeding & pumping for a full year with this baby. Which storage bags do you ladies…

Ok so I used lanolin milk bags I believe it's like 6 months in deep freeze(could be longer I cant remember for sure) hours pumping will all depend on you but typically if you are just pumping pump ever 2hrs for 20-30mins at a time 10-15mins per breast I preferred the spectra s2 breast pump and to get baby to latch I cupped my boob with c hold and squeezed to help get my nipple in their mouths as far as possible

I have a Medela Pump in style Advanced. Hours depend on you, I needed to pump every 15 min in 2 hour intervals with my first, some women can go longer in between though. For bags, I never had much luck cause they always leaked so I have lansinoh bag to stack and put them into zip lock bags to thaw. At room temp: 4-6hours. Refrigerator:3-8days. Freezer: 3-6 months deep freezer: 6-12 months (LA Leche league recommendations from 2014)

I cant recommend Nuk freezer bags enough. They are super cheap in cost but I have had nothing but good results with them. I exclusively pumped with my daughter and froze/rotated my milk for the full year and then pumped with my son while I was at work. I calculated something like 1200 bags used with my daughter and not one leak.

Remember the 5-5-5 rule

5 hours room temp

5 days in the fridge

5 months in the freezer

Up to a year in the deep freezer

When you have your baby there will most likely be a lactation consultant in the hospital sent to help you with pumping and breastfeeding info. I use the lansinoh bags and electric pump. For the first week, I pumped every 3 hours. I literally woke up covered in milk, boobs hard as a rock 😭 I slowed down the frequency of pumping after that but it helped me get a head start on my supply and now I’m maintaining whatever amount my son eats from the breast, plus pumping 2-3 full lansinoh bags each morning that go straight to the freezer. You can always produce more by pumping more often and staying hydrated& eating well. My baby sometimes won’t latch unless there’s already milk on the surface of the nipple. So I just gently squeeze the areola until a little milk comes out and he goes crazy lol. And I also have to hold my boob with one hand while baby eats, and squeeze it down to a size he can easily fit in his mouth. I wish you the best of luck with breastfeeding, it’s such a blessing!
