So my son isnt a picky eater, but all of the sudden, if he can't hold it and run with it, he doesnt want it. If we try to feed him normal food with forks and sppons (or even just let him grab it), he wont eat it unless he can run around. What do i doooooo lol
Sorry, read that as he is a picky eater. Sorry. Of course him sitting in place is needed for safety, but if eating with his hands, or you feeding him gets him to eat and stay out by all means! Best wishes!
Let him eat with his hands. He will soon grow out of that. We all have. In some cultures that's all they know. You can encourage him to eat with the spoon or fork but ultimately just get the food in him somehow or another. They often don't eat a large quantity at that age. If it becomes too big of a problem talk it over with his pediatrician.
@shellee94 Put him in a high chair for every meal consistently and if he refuses to eat let him go hungry for that meal, and try again at the next snack or meal time. One day of this and he will not go hungry in the true sense. And never let it go more than a meal or two. He obviously needs to eat but you have to keep him safe also and sometimes they have to learn in a way that is safe for them but hurts our hearts as mothers. Will he sit still if you feed him?
@xryztalroze he hates his high chair to the point of wailing, but we try to use it anyway. Usually we end up having him sit beside us in a normal chair or on the floor and we feed him/he feeds himself, and that worked great. But all of the sudden, if he cant pick it up and run off, he doesnt want it
@shellee94 Oh boy! So sorry! Sounds like you have done everything we did with our oldest except just taking the food away until she came back and sat for it. We decided we would rather have a hungry child than a choking one. It took some time but she learned and not at 3 is starting up again and we have to buckle her in like when she was little. She doesn't like it but it's for her own good. If she doesn't eat we let her down but take the food away. It's hard to do but it's for her safety and she never goes hungry. Like your baby she will eat anything she just wants to be everywhere at once. I hope he grows out of this fast so you can have some peace and enjoy your meal times again.
Keep in mind he will have his bottles in between also.
