My daughter is getting her allergy test done tomorrow morning. For those that have gone through this, what was your experience? Any advice?
I had the back test in the fall and it was SOOOOO itchy! The actual pricks didn’t hurt but then you have to sit there for 10-15 mins to wait for a reaction. I’m allergic to a lot of stuff though so it was extra itchy for me, hopefully she won’t react as badly as I did! 🤞🏼
She already itches like crazy from her eczema so I hope she isn’t to itchy after 😬
After they measure all the reaction sites they’ll rub an cortisone cream over it that’ll help a lot! When my son was tested for allergies they just did a blood draw since he was so young. Maybe they’ll do that for her?
Thanks ladies for the heads up. I’m glad I asked because I naively thought this was going to be a smooth process! I’ll bring the iPad and some treats to keep her distracted.
Typically you can't eat during them. But make sure she's fed before and I always save the treats for after 😀
Let her eat before for sure, it’s a bittersweet moment. Just give her lots of hugs and kisses. However it’s very quick though
Ew it sucks. I had it done several times as a child and I’m literally allergic to everything so my back looked gross for weeks after every time. I will say though, the needles don’t really hurt that bad. It’s literally just a little prick to make sure the stuff gets in there. If she’s just doing her arm, it won’t be so bad. Just tell her no scratching! Makes the reaction worse.. & Get caladryl to put on it after, unless they give you something else but that’s the stuff.
Just saw your daughter is barely 2. Omg good luck. I have no advice then cause she’s not gonna have any idea what’s being done. Just hug her tight and tell her mommy’s here. Just like getting shots. Good luck mama ❤️
Yes the prick test is uncomfortable and the area can't be touched for a while after. I always bring an iPad or coloring because we're there for at least an hour. What is she being tested for??
@mojobebes my daughter had the same symptoms! She's allergic to avacado, tomatoes, almonds, whole milk, shrimp, chocolate, wheat, & egg whites. I was surprised when they told me all those!

Prepare yourself to hear lots of crying. They tested my daughter for about 36 things I believe if I’m remembering correctly. But its pins on the back in sets of 12. Once they’re finished they’ll wait about 10-15 mins to see if she has any swelling or redness & that would tell you what she’s allergic too. Her back will be sensitive for the rest of the day though
It was pretty easy for my daughter she was around 3 when she got hers done. They just basically do little scratches on her back. My daughter said it itched but didn't hurt! They came back negative for everything but I had them do blood test because I knew she was allergic to some stuff turns out she's allergic to alot of things the allergy test didn't test for.
Is it still the little pins in the back? If it is.. no advice but it’s the worst lol prepare yourself.

To see what causes her stuffy, runny nose and bad eczema. Nothing we have tried has worked to keep symptoms at bay. Hopefully we’ll gain some insight tomorrow.
