Ok mamas if you don't put the dad's name on the baby's birth certificate right away. Can you go and add him anytime or does he have to sign it at the hospital after you have the baby? I don't want to add him right away for the way he is. ( Getting high and drinking and always emotionally and verbally abusive) he needs to prove to me that he has changed and wants to be in the baby's life. I want him to earn his name on the birth certificate.

Girllll if he’s this way , I wouldn’t put him on AT ALL. & don’t get your hopes up thinking he’ll one day change. If he doesn’t want to get his act right that’s on him.

@mummaof2munchkins ok he will only be at the hospital this first day when I give birth but the remainder of my stay I will be there by myself.

@mamabear_of_soon_to_be_02, they won’t bother you with paperwork the day you have him. They usually come the morning you get discharged.

So what I was told is you have to petition the court to add the father, and have to have a DNA test done to prove he is the father. You can add him but not let him sign it. And you can decide babys last name and that can be changed at a later time much more easily then adding the father.

oh I know I've dealt with it before from my daughter's sperm donor. He tried saying he'd take me to court to get a DNA test done and get his name on the birth certificate and get joint custody. Here we are almost 3 years later and he doesn't give a F**k about my daughter. In fact he got his current gf pregnant and he has another daughter who was just born in February.

@mamabear_of_soon_to_be_02 ahh so not your first rodeo. Just do what feels right to you! Make your childs father prove himself and get himself added when he straightens up.
