We went with the practice that my OBGYN’s office recommended, which also happened to be in the same building and the office down the hall. From there, we met each doctor in the practice while I was in the hospital after delivery and decided to only see the one we liked better.
One thing to consider is if the doctor is a DO or and MD. That may or may not be important to you, but generally DOs have slightly different training and are usually more open to holistic treatment approaches. The DO in the office had a big interest in breastfeeding and she also didn’t care that we got a second opinion from a pediatric chiropractor in regards to if our son needed a helmet. The MD in the office gave me a nasty look for taking my 4 month old to a chiropractor.
I’m generalizing here, some MDs and DOs will have different personal and philosophical opinions on holistic treatments, but if you lean one way or the other, it may be important to understand the differences in training and how that impacts how they practice medicine.
I called and made an appt to interview the one I was interested in while I was pregnant after confirming they were within network. We liked her then and love her now!
I went by who the insurance would cover, then narrowed it down by reviews online/friends, the dr websites, if they won any awards if so what kind. And actually a few will take new parents prior to having a baby so they can scope out the office and ask the dr any questions you might have.
