At that age, it's basically all they do. Learning about their environment is part of their development - my daughter never sits still and gets bored of a toy within seconds. It can be tiring but it does take a while to get them sitting and playing - Fred is almost 2 and still doesn't do this for longer then 5 minutes. Just make a fun space for him, fill it with toys, boxes, coloured paper, noisy things, different textures and let him go wild x

Babies and toddlers are not made to sit still for even short periods. My eldest never stopped for anything. It's only been in the last year or so he'll sit & watch a show or film. And honestly it's a good thing. He's interested in the world and wants to explore. Let him! Use old/ recycled objects. Old phones/ telephones/ keyboard/ keys. We waste so much money on baby toys and honestly it's a waste! Boxes pots and pans with spoons. Google treasure basket ideas or the curiosity approach. There's some simple ideas but really engage children's attention.
