So hubbys friend is a mailman & he had asked the lady to please put away her DOG and she said NO HE DOESNT BITE. So instead of denying her her mail (which he can if he’s scared of the dog) he went to put the mail in the mail box & the dog attacked him.... moral of the story YOU DONT READ DOG MINDS & now he’s suing the lady 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
We moved into our apartment in the spring last year, and we had our dog on her leash and the other on the car jack becaus we were working in the garage. We stopped the mail man so she knew his smell, and that way he could meet her properly (and wasn't scared of her) now he brings her a treat and they look forward to seeing each other everyday (even if we dont have mail he stops to say hi to her)
I hate irresponsible dog owners more than anything... My dogs are like my children and I adore them but they're still dogs. It's unlikely they'll bite but they could and it's not a risk anyone should be willing to take. Her dog very likely could get put down over this and it's completely her fault and preventable. I always crate my dogs before opening my door to a stranger or the mailman.
@madhatter, that is a constant battle with pet owners. I get it but it is an animal. Especially those sad stories when the house pet kills the newborn when it could have been avoided.
Do not get me started on pet owners walking their dogs unleashed in public places. That is a cause for disaster.
@icebergahead I completely agree. As much as I trust my two they won't be left alone or allowed to be near the baby unsupervised. It's not worth an accident happening! And ugh I hate that. There are leash laws for a reason. There's a place and a time for it. My dogs are trained well enough they don't need leashes. Do they wear them when we aren't in our yard or hiking somewhere they're allowed to be? Yes! It's all super easy. People are just so stubborn.
@madhatter I completely agree with this! Seriously I have 2 dogs, small yorkies. and they don’t bite or haven’t bit us or anyone BUT STILLLLL I keep the awayyyy when the mailman comes even if they seen them before at the end of the day they are dogs and they can’t defend themselves verbally if they feel even a slight bit off that day. I wouldn’t risk my puppies life nor for that matter anyone else. I mean honestly not everyone is a fan of dogs as cute as they are so they wouldn’t like to be approached by our pups 🤷🏻♀️
Mailmen in my neighborhood pull up to your mailbox they don’t get out because of the dogs and if your mailbox is blocked to where they can’t pull up they won’t leave your mail.
@tsunamii, oh well ours must be a driving route I’ve never seen mailmen pull up till we moved here I’ve always only seen them walk
What an inconsiderate witch! I have been scared of dogs my whole life bc as a child I was bit on multiple occasions by different dogs. Every single one of the owners said their dog doesn't bite. I CAN'T STAND WHEN PEOPLE SAY THAT! Ugh! I would hate to be a mailman for this reason. He should've definitely denied her of her mail. But hopefully she'll learn a good lesson! How ignorant can you be?! What a jerk.
@icebergahead Exactly! That's why I can't stand when people say that. It makes me so mad.
@tsunamii, I dislike when owners are in denial. I have almost been bitten many times over at work due to owners telling me their dogs are not biters. The dog has fear in its eyes and ears peeled back... your dog is going to bite me.
Dogs may not bite but in certain situations, out of pure fear they may.
Something as simple as holding your dog back would have not injured a postal man. I would feel terrible. What are the laws for dogs biting people in his town? Some towns euthanize depending on the case.
Even if I thought ny dog would be ok I'd put him up just because someone is scared like she really couldn't do that for a few min? Good for him for suing
