Urghk please help..
What’s the best thing for migraines? I normally take special nasal sprays & aspirin as prescribed by my neurologist but I can’t get hold of them or my GP. I’ve slept all day, I haven’t been able to leave my bed. Thankfully my husband was off and our daughter at the childminders but I have her on my own tomorrow so I need help and quick!
Oh didn't realise you were pregnant. Sorry. 🙈 I'm not actually sure, I know they give it to stop blood clots but I think it's low dose. Could you ring your Drs and see if they can provide an alternative as you're struggling to get it?
I’m not struggling to get my nasal sprays but I have hyperemesis so the taste of the nasal sprays triggers my hyperemesis. I can’t get the tablet form of my Normal tablets as there is a national shortage. I can’t get hold of my neurologist he only does appointments on a Monday and my GP doesn’t have any appointments and it’s only a tiny surgery so they don’t do telephone calls. My mums a manager in our local A&E I think if it gets much worse I’ll get her to take me in. I’d normally leave it but I’ve my daughter on my own tomorrow and if I’m anything like today she won’t be safe with me and it worries me xx
You should be able to buy aspirin OTC. Look for the 300mg ones take 3 of them. 900mg of aspirin and can of full fat coke has been the only thing that's helped me. I've been given rizatriptan, sumatriptan, naproxen and cocodamol all of which don't work for me.
My Oh is on those nasal sprays and he can’t get any either. Chemist gave him an iou ticket for them. It’s happened a few times. Manufacturing problem x
@catherineln25, are u sure they’re migraine? Look up cluster headaches, that’s what my OH has. No over the counter medications work and he goes dizzy/ and sometimes vomits x
I seen something the other day about putting your feet in a bucket of warm water with a ice pack on the back of your neck, it’s supposed to get rid of them quite quickly xxx
@catherineln25, could you sit down in the shower ? The steam may help. They’re horrible usually have to sleep mine off but that’s near impossible with babies!xx
@erincharlieconor, mine are that bad I’m under a neurologist, I’m so so fed up with it. My shower is in the bath so I wouldn’t be able to get over the bath. I’ll do it tomorrow when my mums round, I adore my husband but he’s useless with helping me when I’m so unsteady. I’ve not moved from my bed all day, I’ve had to take all my anti sickness medicines as I’ve been so sick with it. 😭😭 I’ve had to go into A&E a few times with them and I’m praying it doesn’t happen tonight xxx
@catherineln25, get yourself into bed! Sometimes people with migraines are more prone in pregnancy especially the
1st trimester with all the hormone changes. Unless your really
Bad then I’d go to the hospital atleast that way you can get correct
Meds. I feel for you they can be very scary xxx
I’ve tried them all day 😩😩 they’ve made it worse! Normally I swear by them 👏🏻 I have them all over the house but today it’s thumping. I’m struggling sitting on my phone trying to find something that works. 🥺🥺xxx
Sorry you wanted a quick solution! Nothing really relieves my migraines. But the dark and no noise makes me feel a bit better x
I have been prescribed Sumatriptan. They're a godsend. Its amazing and will relieve your migraine in about 1 hour x
I have the nasal sprays of sumatriptan but my hyperemesis has sneaked back and they flare it up because of the taste on the back of my throat 😭😭 I’ve sent my husband round all of our chemists and there is still a shortage of the tablet version chemists can sell. It has to be prescribed. 😩😩xxx
@catherineln25 oh im sorry i didnt realise you were pregnant🙈
Are you allowed to take them while pregnant? xx
@j.z.710, I went to my GP the other day and she went through all my medicines swooped and changed loads and kept my nasal sprays so I think I’m ok with them. The taste on the back of my throat is awful though 🤮🤮🤮 that would make me sick instantly. I’ve spent all day in bed, with the room blacked out and I feel just as bad xxx
Sorry seen your struggling to get a hold of GP. Maybe pharmacy could help?
